Our First Home

Before I forget about our first house, I want to be sure to document it on the ol' blog. We closed on the house in January. I was 22 or 23 weeks pregnant and we thought we would be living in Portland, raising our child. I am pretty sure he was nameless at that point.

I think back and imagine all of the things we did in such a short time. We were really excited to get a bunch of projects done before the baby arrived.

Rusty and I in front of our house in Spring.

These next photos are from when I staged our house at the end of April to prepare to sell it. The brokers walked through on Tuesday and we received 2 full price offers that weekend. We were really lucky that it worked out so well for us.

This is the front of the house with our nicely landscaped property. We didn't even have time to purchase a lawnmower.

The living room received a coat of paint and some updated light fixtures.

The dining room also received a coat of paint and an updated chandelier.

We painted the kitchen and added the microwave above the stove.

Here is the family room. I really loved how cozy it was with the gas fireplace. We also painted this room and replaced the ceiling fan.

The master bedroom. It had 2 walk-in closets that I LOVED! This room originally was covered in wallpaper. It was a lovely blue floral. Rick, Rusty and I spent a few hours in this room getting it prepped.

The master bathroom. If you look closely you may be able to see the purple print on the counter. Too bad there is no picture of the purple bathtub complete with purple paint splatter tile. I really wish we had before/after of the other bathroom, since we pretty much remodeled the entire thing with the help of Jimmy, Adam and Rusty.

A photo of Owen's nursery. He never spent a night in here and didn't sleep in his crib until sometime in July!

The upstairs bedroom. We never had time to focus on this room and really only looked this way for staging.

The upstairs bonus room. We staged it as an office, but it was going to be a play area.

The back deck, which Griff, Rusty and Rick had a fun time repairing on a wet February weekend.

I am including this photo because I MISS these appliances. They were one of the first purchases I made and were AWESOME. Also, this was my out-of-the-box room. Sunshiny yellow!

We had so many visitors and help with our first home that there was a bit of guilt when we decided to put it up for sale and move 2000 miles away. Thank you Mom, Jimmy, Adam, Jeri, Scott, Griff, Karen, Uncle Bill and Aunt Jolene. Last, but not least, a great big thanks to Rick. He was such a great help all along the way!

  1. What a darling home. I'm so sad I never got to see it in person. All your hard work making home improvements was well worth it, I've never heard of someone selling a house that fast!

  2. It was an awesome house. I do wish you had pictures of the "mancave" aka garage... that was definitely the highlight for Scott when we visited. I'm glad you have such cute pictures so you can remember your cute house!
